That is a gain of 11,694 units, or 17.27% year-on-year. Versus May 2026's 92,837 units, however, the segment declined 14.45% month-on-month, a seasonal drop after a strong May.
The June chart confirms what buyers already know: outside Maruti's top two, the hatchback segment is a niche fighting for scraps.
The quarterly picture is stronger. Q2 CY2026 hatchback sales stood at 2,68,163 units, up 24.15% from 2,16,000 units in Q2 CY2025, indicating the segment's YoY recovery is broad rather than a one-month blip.
