Mahindra Vision T Patent Filed: Thar's Rugged Bigger Brother Inches Closer
Mahindra has filed a design patent for the Vision T SUV concept, following a similar patent filing for the Vision SXT earlier. Both were part of the four concepts unveiled on 15 August last year, alongside Vision S and Vision X. A production version is expected around 2027.

Vision T is Mahindra's Defender-style answer for buyers who want boxy off-road presence without Land Rover pricing.
The Vision T is styled as a ruggedized, more premium sibling to the Thar Roxx. The patent images reveal a tall, boxy body with straight lines, tank-like panelling and a squared-off stance. Design highlights include a slatted grille, square headlamps, a clamshell bonnet and flared wheel arches in a squarish format. It shares several styling cues with the Vision SXT.
A protruding front bumper appears designed to house off-roading gear, while rugged skid plates and knobby off-road tyres confirm the hardware intent. The alloy wheels get a distinctive design. Mahindra has not disclosed powertrain details, but the concept is expected to sit on the same body-on-frame ladder-chassis architecture that underpins the Thar Roxx and Scorpio N, likely with mHawk diesel and turbo-petrol options. Pricing, positioning above the Thar Roxx (currently 12.99 lakh to 22.49 lakh ex-showroom), and 4WD availability will be confirmed closer to launch.

The patent filing is the clearest signal yet that Vision T is production-bound, not just an auto show sketch. Mahindra's recent form on the Scorpio N, BE6 and XEV 9E (all TCJ BUY) means the body-on-frame ladder-chassis Thar family gets a genuine upmarket sibling, not a badge job.
Biturbo Media rates Mahindra a top-two D-segment pick alongside Toyota, and that is the space Vision T is aimed at: buyers who want a Defender-style boxy off-roader without Land Rover money. The Thar Roxx already showed there is appetite for a bigger, more liveable Thar. Vision T, sitting above Roxx with tank-like panelling and off-road hardware baked in, is Mahindra's answer to that queue. Wait for 2027 pricing, but the direction is right.
