MG Hector Turns 7 With Rs 60,000 Off: Buy Now Or Wait For The Hawk?
JSW MG Motor is marking seven years of the Hector with benefits of up to Rs 60,000 through August 2026, while readying the Hector Hawk, a seven-seat SUV that will bring an EV and a plug-in hybrid to the family. The current Hector starts at Rs 11.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
What was announced
The MG Hector completed seven years on sale in August 2026. To mark the anniversary, JSW MG Motor is offering benefits of up to Rs 60,000 through the month. The package bundles exchange benefits, loyalty rewards, corporate benefits and anniversary discounts, though MG has not published a variant-wise breakdown of what any single buyer will actually receive. Financing is available up to 100 per cent of on-road value for tenures as long as 84 months, subject to lender approval, and accessories can be rolled into the loan.
A Rs 60,000 bundle on a Rs 20 lakh SUV is not a deal, it is a distraction from the Hector Hawk landing weeks later.
The current Hector range starts at Rs 11.99 lakh, ex-showroom, and runs through petrol, petrol-hybrid and diesel powertrains in five and six-seat layouts. The bigger news is the arrival of the Hector Hawk, a seven-seat derivative that will electrify the nameplate for the first time. The Hector Hawk EV is scheduled to arrive later in August 2026, with a plug-in hybrid variant following later in 2026.
MG has not announced expected prices for either Hawk variant. Market estimates place the extended Hector family between roughly Rs 15 lakh and Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom, once the EV and PHEV are on sale, positioning the seven-seater against the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and the upcoming Mahindra electric SUVs. The Hector originally launched in 2019 and built the MG brand in India on the back of its large touchscreen, connected-car features and cabin space.
The Car Jury verdict
Do not sign for a Hector this month. The Rs 60,000 headline is a bundle of exchange, loyalty, corporate and anniversary sweeteners, and MG has not disclosed a variant-wise split. On a car that already sits between roughly Rs 12 lakh and Rs 22 lakh on-road, that is a rounding error, not a reason to buy. The Hector Hawk EV lands this month and the PHEV follows later in 2026, which will reset expectations for the entire range.
Rachit Hirani of MotorOctane has already flagged that MG's 360-degree cameras are not the best, a reminder that the platform is ageing.
