Hyundai Venue hits 8 lakh sales: third compact SUV to do it, and it is not slowing down

Hyundai has confirmed that the Venue crossed 8,02,221 domestic units by the end of May 2026, making it the third compact SUV after the Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon to clear the 8 lakh mark. Including exports, total Venue sales now exceed 8.5 lakh units since its May 2019 launch.
What was announced
Hyundai India has confirmed that cumulative domestic sales of the Venue crossed 8,02,221 units by the end of May 2026. That makes it the second Hyundai model after the Creta to cross the 8 lakh mark, and only the third compact SUV in India to do so, after the Maruti Brezza and the Tata Nexon. Including more than 55,000 export units, total Venue production has crossed 8.5 lakh units since the model's launch in May 2019.
The Venue's last lakh came in nine months, faster than any earlier stretch, proving the second-generation car is a sales booster, not a reset.
The Venue now accounts for 36 percent of Hyundai's total UV sales in India. It is currently in its second generation, launched in November 2026, and the new-gen car has clearly lifted momentum: over 1 lakh units have been sold in the last nine months alone (from September 2025), and more than 24,000 units were retailed in the first two months of FY2027 (April and May 2026).
| Milestone | Achieved | Time taken |
|---|---|---|
| 50,000 units | Nov 2019 | 6 months |
| 1 lakh units | Aug 2020 | 15 months |
| 2 lakh units | Jun 2021 | 25 months |
| 5 lakh units | Nov 2023 | 54 months |
| 6 lakh units | Oct 2024 | 11 months later |
| 7 lakh units | Sep 2025 | 11 months later |
| 8 lakh units | May 2026 | 9 months later |
The Car Jury verdict
The Venue's 8 lakh milestone matters less as a number and more as a signal: Hyundai's compact SUV is accelerating, not fading, even as the second-generation car finds its feet. The final lakh came in nine months, faster than any previous stretch, and the new-gen model has clearly acted as a sales booster rather than a reset. In a segment where the Brezza and Nexon have set the pace for years, the Venue has quietly built a parallel franchise on the back of feature density and Hyundai's dealer reach. As Biturbo Media notes, Hyundai's cars simply sell in volumes few rivals can match. Our take on the current Venue remains BUY for buyers who want a well-equipped compact SUV without the wait lists that dog some rivals. The Venue is now a structural pillar of Hyundai India, not a supporting act.
