Maruti Victoris Hits 1 Lakh Sales in 8 Months: Grand Vitara Now Has a Problem

Maruti Suzuki's Victoris crossed the 1 lakh wholesale mark in May 2026, just over eight months after its September 2025 launch. The mid-size SUV hit 50,000 units in five months, peaked at 15,240 units in January 2026, and now contributes a fifth of Maruti's monthly UV volume.
What was announced
Maruti Suzuki announced that the Victoris crossed 1,00,165 units in cumulative wholesales by the end of May 2026, just over eight months after its September 2025 launch. The first 50,000 units took five months. The nameplate's best month was January 2026 at 15,240 units, when it accounted for 20 percent of Maruti's total UV wholesales of 75,609 units, placing third behind the Ertiga (17,892) and Brezza (17,486).
Maruti's Victoris reached 1 lakh sales in half the time the Grand Vitara took on the same platform and powertrains.

The Victoris shares its platform and powertrains with the Grand Vitara, which took a full year to hit the same number. Feature highlights include Level 2 ADAS and an underbody-mounted CNG tank. The second-generation Hyundai Creta facelift remains the segment's fastest to 1 lakh.
The Car Jury verdict
The Victoris is doing to the Grand Vitara what the Brezza did to the Vitara Brezza name: quietly eating its lunch. Same platform, same powertrains, twice the pace to a lakh. Maruti has clearly figured out that buyers in this segment want SUV silhouette, cladding and roof rails over subtle crossover styling, a point Team-BHP of Team-BHP underlines when noting Maruti's pitch of "new age SUV appeal" and a "strong SUV image".
Motor Inc of Motor Inc argues Maruti is "always the one that will be talking about efficiency" and is often "perceived as boring". The Victoris is the rebuttal: ADAS, underbody CNG, and styling that finally photographs like an SUV. If you are cross-shopping the Hyundai Creta, the Victoris now deserves the test drive. Grand Vitara buyers should simply walk into the Nexa showroom next door.
