JSW MG Motor has raised prices of its two flagship electric offerings, the M9 Presidential Limo and the Cyberster roadster, sold through premium MG Select outlets. The M9 is dearer by Rs 4.05 lakh and the Cyberster by a similar quantum, marking the second price revision on both cars in just three months.

What was announced

MG launched the M9 Presidential Limo and Cyberster electric roadster in India last year through its premium MG Select retail network. Both were introduced in single, fully loaded variants: the M9 at Rs 69.9 lakh and the Cyberster at Rs 72.49 lakh, ex-showroom. In April 2026, MG announced its first round of price revisions, taking the M9 up by Rs 5 lakh and the Cyberster up by Rs 2.5 lakh.

Two hikes in three months on a badge Indians still associate with the Windsor is not how you build a premium EV franchise.

The July 2026 revision is the second hike on both cars inside three months. The M9 has become dearer by Rs 4.05 lakh and the Cyberster by a comparable margin, pushing both nameplates meaningfully past their launch stickers.

The Car Jury verdict

Two hikes in one quarter on cars that already sit well past Rs 70 lakh is a stiff ask, and it lands at a brand that Indian buyers still associate with the mainstream Windsor and Hector. Arun Panwar of his eponymous channel captured the mood bluntly, questioning what has changed at MG and arguing the badge cannot yet promise Fortuner-grade reliability at this money.

That is the core problem. The M9 and Cyberster are showroom magnets at MG Select, not volume products, and their residuals will be tested by every subsequent hike. Buyers eyeing the Cyberster should close the deal on existing stock or walk; the M9 makes sense only for chauffeur-driven duty where the Mercedes V-Class costs more. Anyone shopping MG on emotion should look at the sharper-value Hector instead.
