Suzuki XL7 facelift shown in Indonesia previews the Maruti XL6 update India needs
Suzuki has pulled the covers off the XL7 facelift at the 2026 Indonesia Auto Show, giving Indian buyers a clear look at what the Maruti XL6 refresh will bring. The three-row MPV keeps its silhouette but picks up a redesigned nose, fresh cabin trim and a larger touchscreen.
What was announced
Sold as the XL7 in Indonesia to reflect its seven-seat layout (India gets the six-seat XL6 with captain chairs), the facelift retains the outgoing car's silhouette, proportions and glasshouse. All the visible change sits at the front. The grille is now taller and wider, finished entirely in black, with only the Suzuki logo left in chrome. The bumper has been reworked to house C-shaped air intakes on either flank, with the fog lamp housings sitting at their base.
The all-black grille finally drags the XL6 out of its chrome-heavy phase, but only if Maruti ships the full Indonesian-spec kit in India.
Suzuki has also added two new exterior colours to the palette for the Indonesian market, though the brand has not confirmed which of these will make it to the Indian XL6. The overall stance, ground clearance and roof rails carry over unchanged.
Inside, the dashboard gets a new trim finish and the headline update is a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the smaller unit on the current car. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are expected to continue. The mechanical package is untouched at reveal: the 1.5-litre K15C petrol with mild-hybrid tech, paired with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic, carries forward. Maruti has not confirmed an India launch date, but the XL6 facelift is expected to arrive here within the next few months, likely with minor spec tweaks for local tastes.
The Car Jury verdict
The XL6 has been coasting on age, so this refresh matters. Faisal Khan of FasBeam notes that "the facelift has been done very well because earlier there was chrome here," and he is right: the all-black grille and cleaner bumper drag the car out of its dated chrome-heavy phase. The 9-inch screen finally closes a gap Maruti had left open against the Ertiga's own recent updates.
Our concern is that Maruti tends to trim features between Indonesian-spec and Indian-spec cars. If the XL6 facelift lands with the full kit and sub-Rs 15 lakh top-end pricing, it is a straightforward upgrade for existing owners and Ertiga cross-shoppers who want captain seats. If Maruti waters it down, the wait for a proper generational change begins. For now, hold. Buyers eyeing the wider Maruti range can weigh the Brezza and Swift, both currently rated WAIT by us.
