Mahindra has commenced deliveries of the XEV 9S in its second-rung Pack One Above trim, priced at Rs 19.95 lakh ex-showroom. The variant slots below the XEV 9e's Rs 21.9 lakh starting price while carrying a longer features list, and a fresh walkaround from RS Auto World details exactly what base buyers are getting.

What was announced

Mahindra Auto has started customer deliveries of the XEV 9S Pack One Above, the second variant from the bottom in the XEV 9S range. Ex-showroom pricing for this trim is Rs 19.95 lakh, which positions it almost Rs 2 lakh below the XEV 9e's entry price of Rs 21.9 lakh ex-showroom. The XEV 9S sits alongside the BE 6 and XEV 9e in Mahindra's INGLO-based electric portfolio and is being pitched as the value-led three-row option in the family.

At Rs 19.95 lakh, the Pack One Above gets enough kit that the rest of the XEV 9S range starts to look like upsell.

A detailed walkaround by RS Auto World confirms that visual differentiation between the Pack One Above and higher trims is minimal. The base-plus variant carries LED projector headlights with LED DRLs, body-coloured cladding treatment, and the signature lighting signature seen on the costlier Pack Three trims. The exterior silhouette, wheel arch profile, and tail-lamp design are shared across the range, meaning a Pack One Above owner does not visibly drive a stripped-down car.

Inside, Mahindra has retained a substantial chunk of the feature list from the higher trims on this variant, which is the basis for the value pitch. The XEV 9S Pack One Above is positioned to attract buyers who want a three-row Mahindra EV but find the XEV 9e's pricing a stretch, and the early-delivery walkaround content from independent channels is the first real-world look at what the cheque actually buys.

The Car Jury verdict

The XEV 9S Pack One Above is the variant that makes the rest of Mahindra's electric three-row lineup look overpriced. At Rs 19.95 lakh ex-showroom, you get LED projectors, the INGLO platform underpinnings, and enough cabin tech that the walkaround barely flags missing kit. Rachit Hirani of MotorOctane has called Mahindra's recent strategy as launching "an EV with ICE," and that pricing aggression is exactly what shows up here.

Faisal Khan of FasBeam notes the Level 2 ADAS is camera-based rather than radar-fused, which is the one corner that has clearly been cut. We would still take it. If you were cross-shopping the XEV 9e or even a loaded Scorpio N, the 9S Pack One Above is the smarter cheque to write. BUY.
