Mahindra XUV7XO AX Deliveries Begin: The Sensible Pick At Rs 13.66 Lakh

Mahindra has commenced dispatches of the base AX trim of the XUV7XO, five months after the SUV's January debut. Until now, deliveries had been concentrated on the AX7, AX7L and AX7T variants. The AX petrol and diesel start at Rs 13.66 lakh and Rs 14.96 lakh ex-showroom respectively, both manual-only.
What was announced
Mahindra launched the all-new XUV7XO in January 2026, and the SUV now holds over 23 percent share of the 4.5m to 4.8m segment, making it the second bestselling model in that bracket. Initial production prioritised the AX7, AX7L and AX7T trims. The base AX has now entered dispatch, with a detailed walkaround of the diesel manual published on the Fuel Injected YouTube channel.
The AX diesel manual is the smartest XUV7XO in the lineup for buyers who want the SUV without paying for screens they will not use.
| Variant | Transmission | Ex-showroom price |
|---|---|---|
| AX Petrol | 6-speed manual | Rs 13.66 lakh |
| AX Diesel | 6-speed manual | Rs 14.96 lakh |
Automatic transmission is not offered on the base AX trim.
Exterior kit on the AX is closer to the higher variants than the price gap suggests. The front fascia carries bi-LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, a follow-me-home function, and the signature grille finished in gloss black. The base trim shares the bonnet, bumper design and overall stance with the AX7 series, with steel wheels and reduced chrome being the main visual giveaways. Inside, the AX drops the larger twin-screen setup and ADAS suite of the AX7L and AX7T, but retains the core safety package that Mahindra has standardised across the XUV7XO range.
The Car Jury verdict
The base AX is the variant that decides whether the XUV7XO actually competes on value or just on bling. At Rs 13.66 lakh for petrol and Rs 14.96 lakh for diesel, it undercuts the AX7 by a meaningful margin while keeping bi-LED projectors, DRLs and the signature grille, which is exactly how a base trim should be specced. Mahindra's recent run, from the Scorpio N to the BE6, has shown the brand knows how to win over sceptics. As Arun Panwar admits on his channel, even self-confessed Mahindra haters have flipped within a day of driving the newer cars. Biturbo Media rates Mahindra among the top two D-segment picks alongside Toyota. The AX diesel manual is the pick of the range for buyers who want the XUV7XO badge without paying for screens they will not use.
