Renault India has finally disclosed the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of the Duster Turbo TCe 100, almost three months after the SUV's March 2026 launch. The entry-level 1.0-litre turbo petrol, paired only with a 6-speed manual, returns 19.41 km/l, the company confirmed via a statement from Renault Engineering.

What was announced

Renault has certified the Duster Turbo TCe 100 at 19.41 km/l under ARAI's test cycle, making it, by the company's claim, the most fuel-efficient turbo petrol SUV in the mid-size segment. The figure was withheld at the March 2026 launch, when only the 1.3-litre TCe 130 and TCe 156 mileage numbers were disclosed.

The TCe 100 is now the sensible Duster to buy: lowest running cost in the segment, with the trade-off being a manual-only gearbox.

The TCe 100 uses a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol producing 100 PS and 160 Nm, mated exclusively to a 6-speed manual gearbox. There is no automatic option on this engine; buyers wanting an EDC dual-clutch must step up to the 1.3-litre. The TCe 100 sits at the base of the new-generation Duster range and is positioned as the entry point into the lineup.

Rival figures are manufacturer-claimed ARAI. The TCe 100 is offered only with a manual gearbox.

The Car Jury verdict

On paper, 19.41 km/l is the number to beat in the turbo-petrol mid-size SUV space, and Renault knows it. The TCe 100 is the volume variant, the one that gets the Duster nameplate into showroom conversations against the Hyundai Creta 1.5 turbo and the upcoming Tata Sierra. A manual-only, 100 PS turbo with this ARAI figure makes the entry Duster the sensible buy in the lineup, not the 1.3.

Our Duster review verdict stays BUY, and this mileage number reinforces it. As Gagan Choudhary of Gagan Choudhary noted while comparing rivals, the Duster's road presence and packaging already punch above its segment. Add the lowest running cost among turbo-petrol mid-size SUVs and the value case writes itself, provided buyers accept the manual-only restriction on this trim.
